The Circulatory System The Conduit
Through Which Blood Flows
The Circulatory System Consists of:
-
The heart - a large
hollow muscular organ which pumps blood to the rest of the
circulatory system through three types of vessels
-
The arteries-
which carry oxygenated blood under pressure from the heart
to the rest of the body
-
The veins
- which carry the oxygen depleted blood back to the heart
-
The capillaries
- which are narrow thin, walled vessels that connect the
tiniest arteries with the tiniest veins
